Decimal odds in brief
Decimal odds include the returned stake in a winning payout. For example, a hypothetical 2.00 price means a total return of twice the stake if the selection wins, subject to the bet rules and any applicable deductions. It does not mean the outcome has a 50% guaranteed chance.
The simple implied probability is one divided by decimal odds. For 2.00, that equals 50% before adjusting for the bookmaker margin, market design and other factors. A single price is not a full forecast.
Why a book has a margin
For mutually exclusive outcomes, add the implied probabilities from all listed prices. A total above 100% is commonly used as a rough indicator of the market overround. The amount is not the same as an individual bettor’s expected loss and may not capture all terms.
For a meaningful comparison, use the same event, market, timestamp, settlement definition and odds format. Prices can move between observations. We have not collected SportPesa price data or measured its margin.
Compare like with like
A 1X2 market should not be compared with draw-no-bet or a handicap line. Check whether odds are boosted or conditional on a promotion, and whether cash-out or early settlement affects the return. Record the time and terms if comparing several operators.
No price comparison in this guide should be read as a “best odds” claim. Prices vary by event and moment; past observations do not predict future availability.
